BNP MP Rehana Akhter Ranu today demanded that ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina be brought back to the country and subjected to “electric shock” in the Aynaghar.
Speaking during the budget debate in parliament, Ranu also demanded action against those involved in recent banking fraud.
Speaking during the general discussion on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2026-27, Rehana referenced the Aynaghar torture facility and abuses carried out during the previous Awami League government.
“I saw a chair there. In the past, those opposing [the Awami League government] were given electric shocks there. My demand is that Sheikh Hasina be brought back and subjected to similar treatment,” she said.
Rehana also warned of threats to national stability. “If, God forbid, the demon Hasina returns due to disunity among the opposition, those who once turned their Facebook profiles red during the July mass uprising will see their lives turned black.”
She referenced the July Uprising in Feni where 11 people were killed, citing conversations with bereaved families who expressed frustration over slow judicial progress.
“Thy said the police are not arresting the accused, and even when they do, courts grant bail. They told us: ‘We don’t want anything from you, we only want justice for our murdered children,'” she said.
Rehana also addressed the financial sector crisis, demanding recovery of funds from those accused of large-scale bank fraud.
“Bank looters living luxuriously abroad after plundering must have their properties auctioned to return depositors’ money,” she said.
