Twenty-one people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours with total number of deaths now standing at 5,681 and the death rate at 1.46 percent, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
At least 1,637 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 3,90,206, added the release. The current positivity rate is 10.81 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 17.91 percent.
In the last 24 hours, 1,627 patients have recovered from the virus and the total number of recoveries has reached 3,05,599 in the country.
The current recovery rate stands at 78.32 percent.
Bangladesh is currently 17th on the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.
A total of 15,146 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours.
Among the 21 deceased, 14 were men and seven women while one was between 0-10 years old, one between 31-40, one was within 41-50, five within 51-60 and 13 others were above 60 years old, added the release.
