Proshanta Mridha wins Gemcon Sahitya Puroshkar 2018
The award is worth Tk8 lakh – in terms of monetary value the biggest award at present, and among the non-government awards the oldest.
Fiction writer Proshanta Mridha has been awarded with Gemcon Sahitya Puroshkar (literary award) 2018 for his book “Dugdugir Ashor.”
Young writer Hamim Kamal and poet Nayeem Hasan have won the Tarun Katashahitya Puroshkar (Gemcon Young Literature Award) and Gemcon Kobita Puroshkar (Gemcon Poetry Award) respectively.
The awards were announced at 4:30pm Friday at Bangla Academy’s Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad auditorium, on the second day of Dhaka Literary Festival 2018.

Gemcon Group Vice Chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP, Professor Biswajit Ghosh, poet and essayist Sumon Goon, poets Dr Mohammad Sadiq, Poet Asad Chowdhury and Poet Rubi Rahman were present during the award ceremony.
Kazi Nabil Ahmed said: “We introduced the award as Kagoj Sahitya Puroshkar in 2000 and it was renamed as Gemcon Sahitya Puroshkar in 2007. The awards are given every year to inspire creative writers of Bangla literature.”
Last year’s recipient of the Gemcon Sahitya Puroshkar was poet and essayist Mohammad Rafique.
