The Awami League on Thursday alleged that Bangladesh Nationalist Party was persuading foreign countries to help them to go to power and that was what they did during the recent US presidential election and the Indian national elections.
But it would not bring any result for them perusing the foreign countries, as people were the main force to install a party to power, they said.
Mahbubul Alam Hanif, the AL joint general secretary, at a press conference at Dhanmandi office of the party president, said BNP had supported a president candidate in the American election and hoped that they would bring them to power in Bangladesh.
‘But we Awami League did not depend on the foreign countries… we only depend on the support of the people of the country to go in power’, Hanif said.
He suggested the BNP leaders to take lessons from the US election that the voters could elect anybody as their leader according to their choice.
Hanif congratulated the newly elected US president Donald Trump on behalf of the Awami League and hoped that the relations between Bangladesh and USA would increase more during the tenure of Trump.
Dipu Moni, the joint general secretary and former foreign minister, said that the legal Bangladeshi immigrants living in USA would not face troubles under Trump’s government.
And the government of Bangladesh would stand beside the immigrants if they faced any problem in USA, Dipu Moni added.
Joint general secretary Abdur Rahman, organising secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, secretaries, Abdus Sobhan Golap, Sujit Roy Nandi, Biplab Barua and others attended the press conference.
