Licences of 43 agencies have been suspended for various terms, some of them also fined
The government has cancelled the licences of eight Hajj agencies and suspended the licences of 43 others for irregularities committed during the Hajj season of 2013.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a notice in this regard on Thursday.
Licences of 38 agencies have been suspended until further instructions from the government of Saudi Arabia. Among them, 20 have been fined Tk4 lakh each.
Licences of five other agencies have been suspended for various terms. They have also been fined for various terms within a range of minimum of Tk3 lakh and maximum Tk5 lakh.
The eight Hajj agencies, whose licences were terminated, were also fined for various terms upto a maximum of Tk1.04 crore and their guarantee money attached by the government.
A total of 121 Hajj agencies have been fined Tk1.5 lakh each, nine Tk2.5 lakh each and 17 others Tk3 lakh each. Five were Fined Tk4 lakh each and five more Tk5 lakh each.
Nine Hajj agencies were relieved of charges or enlisted, the notice said. A copy of the notice is attached with this report for viewing pleasure of the readers.
