Two AL MPs’ cases among withdrawal recommendation
The national committee on review and recommendation of the withdrawal of ‘politically-motivated’ cases on Thursday suggested that 72 cases could be ditched.
The recommendation came at the 31st meeting of the committee held at Home Ministry with State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam in the chair.
A total of 277 cases were placed at the last meeting of the committee which recommended withdrawal of 72 cases, officials said.

The cases against two Awami League MPs — Major General (retd) Subid Ali Bhuiyan and Amanur Rahman Khan — were also among the cases that got the recommendation for withdrawal.
The committee rejected the recommendation to withdraw the case filed against journalist Tipu Sultan which had been recommended for lifting in the committee’s earlier meeting.
Replying to a question, Quamrul Islam claimed no ‘politically-motivated’ case has been filed against any opposition man under the present government.
Terming today’s meeting as the last one, the junior minister said with the today’s one a total of 31 meetings were held so far where 11,382 cases placed for consideration. Among the cases, a total of 7173 cases were withdrawn, he added.
