Miscreants have forced poison down the throat of a young woman, whose father is a prosecutor in the seven-murder case, in Narayanganj.
She was stopped by an unidentified man while she was coming out of her coaching classes opposite the Narayanganj Club, her father Wajed Ali Khokon told bdnews4.com.
“He asked her to go to a restaurant with him. She refused and that is when two others joined him to force poison down her throat.”
The men then left in a microbus and Prapti called her father from a rickshaw to inform him of the attack.Khokon is a public prosecutor at the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, which in January passed judgment in the case over the 2014 murder of seven people in the city.
Those facing the gallows for the murders include its mastermind, the former Narayanganj city councillor Nur Hossain, and three former officials of the Rapid Action Battalion or RAB who carried out the killings in exchange for money.
The unidentified attackers mentioned the case to her before feeding her poison, her father said.
“The man who asked my daughter to go to a restaurant said ‘your father did something great yesterday. So let’s treat you to something’.”Prapti vomited several times and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. She was released from the hospital around 10pm, said SI Bacchu Miah of the DMCH police outpost.
Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Moinul Hoque has visited the site of the attack.
“No one was able to identify the attackers. We are trying to find a lead by scanning through CCTV footage of nearby buildings.”
The coaching centre, Touhid’s Tutorial Territory, is owned by Pappi’s maternal uncle, said prosecutor Wazed Ali.
