The total voter turnout of the fifth phase of fourth Upazila Parishad election in the country is 61%, according to the Election Commission (EC).
A total of 84,59,509 voters out of 1,38,91,992 cast their votes in the fifth phase held on Monday. A total of 31,7112 votes have been cancelled in the phase.
The highest voter turnout is 87.24% in the Madarganj upazila in Jamalpur while the lowest voter turnout is 44.23% in the Trishal upazila in Mymensingh during the fifth phase of voting.
The percentage of voter turnout in fourth phase is 56.12%. The percentage of first phase in 97 upazila polls is 62.44% and the second phase polls in 116 upazilas is 63.31%. The percentage of voter turnout in the third phase polls in 81 upazila parishads is 63.52%.
The commission held 459 out of 487 upazila parishads polls in fifth phases. The commission will hold elections for the remaining 22 upazilas in the sixth phase.
The turnout of voter was 67% in the third upazila parishad polls held on 2009.
