The BNP and its allies have announced a 48-hour nationwide blockade of roads, rail and waterways starting from 6am Tuesday rejecting the roadmap to general elections.
The opposition’s spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme at a press briefing on on Monday.
Fakhrul said, “We ask that the schedule be kept on hold until a settlement is reached.”
The retaliatory measure came barely an hour after the Chief Election Commissioner announced the schedule for the 10th parliamentary election.
