Three cases were filed on Thursday against 3,700 Jamaat-Shibir men in connection with Wednesday’s clash with cops in between Raipur upazila of the district and Faridganj of Chandpur.
Two of the cases were filed with Raipur Police Station while the other wass lodged with Faridganj police in Chandpur.
In Laxmipur, sub-inspector Abul Bashar of Raipur Police Station filed a case while SI Forkan the other one against 21 named and 1,100-1,200 unnamed Jamaat-Shibir men in the afternoon.
In Chandpur, sub-inspector of Faridganj Police Station Nurul Haque filed another case against 2,500 Jamaat-Shibir activists in connection with the violence.
At least 20 people, including 10 policemen, were injured in a clash between Jamaat-Shibir men and police in the bordering area of the two districts on Wednesday afternoon.
The clash ensued when the Jamaat-Shibir men attacked the vehicle of Laxmipur Chief Judicial Magistrate Awlad Hossain while going to Chandpur during the 48-hour hartal enforced by Jamaat.
Police fired 250 rounds of bullets and teargas shells to bring the situation under control.
