President Zillur Rahman who died on Wednesday at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital will be laid to rest at Banani Graveyard on Friday afternoon.
His body will be flown in Dhaka on Thursday noon.
A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying Zillur’s mortal remains will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12 noon, President press secretary Nesar Uddin Bhuiyan told UNB.
From the airport, the body will be taken to Bangabhaban and kept there for two hours. Later, it will be kept at the mortuary of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at 2.30 pm on Friday at the National Eidgah while the second one at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 3.30pm.
Later, the body will be taken to his Gulshan residence for a while.
Zillur will be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard at 5pm.
Meanwhile, a three-day national mourning has been announced at the death of the President from tomorrow (Thursday). The national flag will be kept at half-mast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
President’s family members expressed gratitude to the country’s people for their prayers seeking his recovery. They again requested the countrymen to pray for salvation of Zillur’s departed soul, the Bangabhaban release said.
