Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will set up 236 formalin testing booths at grocery markets in the capital within 10 days to ensure chemical and formalin free foods.
DMP Commissioner Benzir Ahmed has made the disclosure at the Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday, reports BSS.
“DMP will set up 236 formalin testing booths in 236 kitchen markets within 7/8 days and university students will assist in the effort,” Benzir said.
“It is necessary to install laboratories at airports and land ports for checking all imported fruits,” he added.
He informed that some 13,000 maunds of mangoes and 35 lakh litchis have been destroyed due to formalin and carbide this season.
