Two motorcyclists have died in separate accidents at Dhaka’s Hatirjheel and Postgola, police have said.
At least three others have been injured in the accidents on Friday, Bangladesh’s weekly holiday.
Ramna police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moshiur Rahman said two motorcycles hit the road island at Hatirjheel’s Madhubagh bridge on Friday afternoon.
He said one of the riders, Badhon Rana, 16, was killed on the spot.
Of the three injured, a teenager, ‘Hridoy’, was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition, Rahman said.
Imran, another rider, was also injured.
OC Rahman said four friends were riding on two motorcycles at Hatirjheel when the accident took place.
The deceased is the son of Abed Ali and lived in Badda’s Notun Bazar.
Hridoy is a Grade-X student at the Gulshan Model School. It was not clear whether Rana was his classmate.
Earlier in the day, one Al-Amin, 35, died following an accident at Postgola between a motorcycle and an autorickshaw.
He was initially taken to a local hospital but later shifted to DMCH, where he died, DMCH police outpost Inspector Mozammel Haq said.
