At least two pedestrians have been killed and four others injured as a passenger bus veered off the road and ran them over on a footpath in the capital’s Pallabi area on Friday afternoon.
The deceased are Chan Mia, 35, and Sahanaz, 28, of Pallabi area.
Confirming the incident, Pallabi police station Sub-Inspector Farukuzzaman Mallik told the Dhaka Tribune: “A bus of Bihongo Paribahan got onto the footpath in front of Purobi Cinema Hall as the driver lost his control over the steering at 5pm, leaving two pedestrians dead on the spot and four others injured.”
“The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.”
Police have seized the bus and arested the driver.
