Two housewives of a Hindu family, were gang-raped at Hajrali Hrishipara in Manirampur upazila early Thursday.
After the incident came to the light on Friday, police rescued the tortured housewives in the morning and sent them to Jessore General Hospital for medical examinations.
Family members of the victims and police said a gang of armed miscreants stormed into the house of Hajra Das in the early hours of Thursday and tied up him and his son, Uttam Das, with a rope.
Later, the criminals took turns to rape Uttam’s wife and sister.
Describing the brutality, Hajra Das said the miscreants gang-raped his daughter and daughter-in-law at gunpoint before their eyes.
Officer-in-charge of Manirampur Police Station Mir Rezaul Hossain said those who are on the run following the ongoing drives of the joint forces are behind the incident.
He also said they have launched a drive to arrest the culprits.
