Two police officials and several others were injured as garment workers engaged in a clash with law enforcers in Mirpur 1 of Dhaka this morning.
Mehedi Hasan, inspector (investigation) of Shah Ali Police Station and another policemen whose identity could not be known immediately, were hurt when brick chips were thrown at them, police said.
The clash was ensued when workers of a garment factory started agitating in front of Mollick Tower in the area demanding due salaries and bonuses, Masud Ahmed, deputy commissioner (Mirpur division) told The Daily Star.
Meanwhile, the protesting workers blocked the road at Mirpur 1 and vandalised several vehicles on the Chiriakhana (Zoo) Road, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The incident took place at around 10:30am, the daily said.
