Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has “removed” 18 officials including a company commander of the elite force.
Major Ali Ahsan, commander of Crime Prevention Company 3, is among the 18 RAB officials.
“The RAB officials were removed on allegation of embezzlement,” said a high official of RAB wishing anonymity.
He said the RAB 3 officers arrested four persons from Comilla and seized Tk1.5 lakh from them on Friday. But, the RAB men only documented Tk60,000 in its seizure list.
Wing Commander ATM Habibur Rahman, director of Legal and Media Wing of RAB, told the Dhaka Tribune that the RAB officials were not removed. They were attached to the headquarters on “special reason”.
However, Director General of RAB Mokhlesur Rahman denied the allegation of embezzlement.
He said the transfer was a routine move.
