They said Jamaat did well as it contested jointly with its main ally BNP

Members of 14-party alliance yesterday expressed resentment at the Awami League for not participating in upazila polls jointly.

They said Jamaat did well as it contested jointly with its main ally BNP.

At a meeting, the allies urged the AL to give more importance to the member organisations. Awami League leader Mohammad Nasim chaired the discussion held at the party chief’s Dhanmondi office.

They said the Awami League’s failure to give single candidate gave wrong message to the pro-liberation forces.

The alliance leaders also urged the government to take legal steps against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman for claiming Ziaur Rahman as the country’s first president.

Nasim, also the health minister, said the 14-party alliance would launch campaign and hold rallies on April 28-30 to thwart the conspiracies of the BNP-Jamaat.
