112 pilots operate 10 Biman aircrafts, Menon tells JS

The minister for civil aviation and tourism, Rashed Khan Menon, on Wednesday informed parliament that 10 aircrafts of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited were run by 106 local and six foreign pilots.

The minister said a total 2,786 manpower were now serving the state-run airlines company.
Responding to a scripted question of AKM Maidul Islam, the minister said, ‘Of the total manpower, 478 officers are from the admin pay group and 223 officers from the technical pay group categories, 1,971 are ground staff and workers while 112 pilots both local and foreign nationals’, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
He informed the house that Biman was now running with four Boeing 777-300 ER aircrafts, two Boeing 777-200 ER aircrafts, two Airbus A310-300 aircrafts and two Boeing 737-800 aircrafts .
Replying to a query of treasury bench member M Abdul Latif, Menon said Biman was now operating flights from 18 stations outside the country.
The minister, responding to a question of Enamul Haque, said the present government has a plan to conduct flight on the Rajshahi route and arrangement of two airplanes on Rajshahi route was under process right now.
Responding to another question of Israfil Alam, he said there were two state-run Five-Star Hotels, Ruposhi Bangla and Pan Pacific Sonargaon, while six private-run Five-Star Hotels-four in Dhaka and two others in Cox’s Bazar.
‘Besides, there are four Four-Star Hotels and 16 Three-Star Hotels under the private sectors,’ he added.
