Dhaka, Oct 26 (bdnews24.com) – Muslims in more than a hundred villages in Chandpur, Shariatpur, Bhola, Borguna, Patuakhali and some other districts are celebrating the Eid-ul-Azha on Friday following Saudi Arabia and other Arab states like every year.
The Eid will be celebrated throughout Bangladesh on Saturday as decided by the National Moon Sighting Committee.
But people of these villages have a tradition of celebrating all religious festivals including the two Eid festivals in line with the sighting of the moon in Saudi Arabia. They also start month of Ramadan fasting a day before the official start in Bangladesh.
Chandpur
Muslims of 40 villages at the district’s five upazilas are celebrating Eid on Friday.
Hundreds of people attended the Eid congregation held at Sadra Madrassa ground at 9am. Mawlana Mohammad Arif Ullah conducted the prayers.
Congregation was held at the same time in Uvarampur Dargah Mosque in Faridganj upazila. Mawlana Saiful Islam led the prayers there.
Shariatpur
At least 10,000 people at 30 villages in the district are also celebrating the Eid on Friday.
The congregation was held at Sureshwar Darbar Sharif ground at 10am.
Patuakhali
Nearly 30,000 Muslims in the district’s 25 villages are observing the Eid-ul-Azha.
The main Eid congregation was held in Badarpur Darbar Sharif at Sadar Upazila at 9am.
Badarpur Darbar Sharif Khadem Mohammad Nazmus Shahadat told bdnews24.com Muslims of these villages had been conducting all religious activities in line with Saudi Arabia since 1928.
Bhola
Around 3,000 people in 14 villages under six unions of the district’s five upazilas – Bhola Sadar, Borhanuddin, Lalmohon, Charfashon, Tojumuddin – are also celebrating Eid.
Mohammad Mojnu Mia, a resident at Borhanuddin’s Mulaipattan village, said the Eid congregation was held at 9am in front of his home which was attended by hundreds of people.
Congregations were also held at 9:30am in other nearby villages.
Borguna
Nearly 2,500 people of seven villages are observing Eid here on Friday.
Locals from different areas said the congregations were held nearly simultaneously at 8am.
Narayanganj
Followers of Jahagia Kaderia Chistia Tarika at the Shah Sufi Motajia Orphanage and Hefoz Khana Madrasa in the district’s Fatulla also celebrated Eid on Friday.
Hundreds of followers coming from Dhaka’s Tongi, Keraniganj, Demra, Savar, Narayanganj’s Rupganj, Bandar and Sonargaon areas attended the Eid congregation held at 10am in Lamaparha.
Patuakhali district’s Rangabali Mamtazia Madrasa Superintendent Mufti Mawlana Iqbal Hossain led the congregation.
Laxmipur
About 500 people of eight villages under Ramganj and Roypur upazilas are celebrating Eid on Friday.
The main Eid congregation, led by Mawlana Nechar Ahmmad, was held at Talimul Quran Nurani Madrasa ground at Ramganj’s Noagaon Bazar at 10am.
Dinajpur
In Dinajpur, Eid was also celebrated on Friday at several places following the Arab states.
The main Eid prayers took place at 8am at the town’s Institute premises. Mawlana Habibur Rahman led the congregation.
About 150 people coming from different areas of Dinajpur town attended the prayers.
