T20 Super10: India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets

India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in the 1st Super10 match of the ICC World Twenty20 amid of the tumultuous crowd at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.

 

The two partnership score — in the opening (54) and in the 4th wicket stand (66) — played the conducive roleto sealed the win against their arch rival Pakistan.

 

Replying to Pakistan 130 runs, India easily reached their target scoring 131runs for 3 in 18.3 overs.

 

Number five Suresh Raina took the match winning last 1 run off a Umar Gul delivery.

 

One down Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 36 runs from 32 deliveries featuring four boundaries and an over boundary.

 

In the 4th wicket stand, Virat Kholi pairing with Suresh Raina contributed 66 runs in 8.2 overs and this pair was remained unbeaten till the end to make the winning score 131 runs in 18.3 overs.

Suresh Raina scored an unbeaten 35 runs off 28 balls also featured four fours and a six.

 

Moreover, in the opening stand, Rohit Sharma partnering with Shikhar Dhawan made 54 runs in 8 overs before Dhawan was caught by Saeed Ajmal off a Umar Gul Delivery.

 

Shikhar Dhawan scored 30 runs off 28 balls featuring five fours while Rohit Sharma made 24 runs from 21 deliveries with a four and two sixes.

Bilawal Bhatti, SaeedAjmal and    Umar Gul claimed one wicket each conceding 17, 18 and 35 runs respectively.

 

Earlier, in the day’s highly vibrated shorter version cricket match, put to bat first, Pakistan posted an ordinary 130 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.

The three catches displayed by Suresh Raina were the most crowd winning moments of the match.

 

Number four batsman Umar Akmal scored 33 runs from 30 balls including two fours to be the highest scorer for Pakistan who was caught by Suresh Raina off a Mohammed Shami delivery.

 

Shoaib Malik was also caught by Suresh Raina off an Amit Mishra delivery after making 18 runs off 20 balls with a four and a six.

 

Number six batsman “Boom-Boom” Shahid Afridi was back to the pavilion scoring 8 runs off 10 balls with a four before caught by Suresh Raina off a Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery.

 

Top order Ahmed Shehzad scored 22 runs from 17 deliveries featuring two fours before stamped by Mahendra Singh Dhoni off an Amit Mishra delivery.

At the end, Sohaib Maqsoodwas fell victim of run out after contributing 21 runs from 11 deliveries with two fours and a six.

 

Skipper Mohammad Hafeez scored 15 runs off 22 balls with a four and was caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar off a Ravindra Jadeja delivery.

 

Opener Kamran Akmal back to the pavilion making just 8 runs off 10 balls with two fours before fell victim of run out.

 

Amit Mishra claimed two wickets for 22 runs with a maiden in his four overs spell and was adjudged man of the match.

 

Ravindra Jadeja,Bhuvneshwar Kumarand Mohammed Shami took one wicket each conceding 18, 21 and 31 runs respectively.

 

From the inception of the world meet, India clinched the first edition crown in 2007 while Pakistan sealed the second edition in 2009.
