Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said they will continue their movement until they achieve the victory.

“BNP has been on a movement for the last five years to establish people’s rights. We’re still on the movement, and it’ll continue until the final victory is achieved,” he said.

Fakhrul was talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman with the leaders of newly formed party’s Dhaka city unit convening committee.

He hoped that the Dhaka city unit under the leadership of party standing committee member Mirza Abbas will play a vital role in intensifying their anti-government movement.

Fakhrul said they together with people will force the current regime to hold a fresh election under a non-party administration.

Following the announcement of a 52-member convening committee headed by Abbas on Friday, its members paid homage to the party founder by placing wreaths at his grave.

Abbas said the main target of the committee is to prepare the Dhaka city BNP unit for a vigorous movement after reorganising it.
