Fakhrul

He stated this soon after his release on bail from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur.

“A mass uprising against this illegal, tyrant and usurper government will certainly begin,” he said.

“I’ve just come out of jail. We will begin (movement) after discussing with the party chairperson and policymakers,” he added.

Kashimpur Jail’s Senior Superintendent Md Jahangir Kabir said Alamgir’s bail papers reached the jail at 5pm Tuesday. He was released at 7:15pm.

He was transferred to Kashimpur from Dhaka Central Jail on Mar 16. Fakhrul was granted bail in three cases within a span of three weeks.

The jail super said Fakhrul’s last two bail out too were from Kashimpur Jail.

Fakhrul’s family members, senior BNP leaders and hundreds of BNP activists greeted the senior leader as he came out through the jail gate. He responded to the greetings by waving his hand.

He then left for his home in Uttara by a car.

On Jan 20, Fakhrul was granted eight weeks’ bail by the High Court in a case over the murder of policemen at Banglamotor last year and two cases of arson in buses in January.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division cancelled the bail orders on Mar 9.

On Mar 16, Fakhrul surrendered to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court and sought bail. The court rejected the plea and sent him to jail.
