Khaleda stops over at Jamuna Resort

Khaleda’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said she arrived at the resort at around 9pm on Friday.

The motorcade started from her Gulshan residence at around 5 pm.

Several BNP leaders including its Vice-Chairman Selima Rahman, Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas and chairperson’s Adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo are accompanying Khaleda.

Local BNP leaders and activists led by Mirzapur Upazila unit President Abul Kalam Azad received the chairperson when she drove to Mirzapur at around 8pm.

Khaleda was received by former state minister Lufor Rahman Khan Azad and other leaders of the party and its front organisations when she reached Jamuna Resort.

Maruf Kamal Khan told bdnews24.com that the BNP chief would start for Jamalpur at around 11am on Saturday.

Her motorcade would travel through Kalihati, Ghatail, Modhupur and Dhonbarhi in Tangail.

The Jamalpur public rally has been organised as part of 20-Party Alliance’s countrywide programmes to press for acfresh parliamentary election under a caretaker administration and cancellation of the 16th constitutional amendment and National Broadcast Policy.

The Jamalpur one will be Khaleda’s fourth public rally outside Dhaka since the Jan 5 polls. She earlier addressed public gatherings in Rajbarhi on Mar 1, Munshiganj on May 28 and Brahmanbarhia on Sept 23.

The 20-Party Alliance is organising the rally at Jamalpur Zilla School ground at 3pm.

Jamalpur district BNP President Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim said all preparations for the gathering were completed.

He expected a large number of people to turn up.
