Khaleda goes to Natore Saturday to address public rally

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia goes to Natore on Saturday to address her party-led 20-party alliance’s public rally aimed at drumming up public support in favour of their demand for snap polls under a non-party administration.

“A public rally will be held in Natore on Saturday to be organised by the BNP-led 20-party alliance. Khaleda Zia will start her journey from her Gulshan office for Natore at 10am on Saturday,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The BNP leader came up with the announcement to dispel uncertainty over holding the rally as Jamaat-e-Islam, a partner of the 20-party, enforced a 72-hour staggered nationwide shutdown programme.

The fist phase of the hartal that began at 6am on Thursday will continue till 6am on Friday while the second phase will begin at 6am on Sunday and end on 6am on Tuesday.

Rizvi said Khaleda will reach Natore Circuit House via Uttara-Ashulai-Tangail-Sirajganj road.

Later, she will address the rally at Nawab Siraj-Ud-Daulah Government College ground in the afternoon.

The rally was originally scheduled to be held on October 30, but it was shifted to November 1 for unavoidable reasons on Monday night.

The local unit of the 20-party alliance will arrange the rally as part of its fresh countrywide mass campaign to create a solid ground for a decisive movement to force the current administration to quit and arrange a fresh inclusive election.

The campaign is also meant for mounting pressure on the government to stop extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and repressive acts, and restore the democratic rights of people.
