Fakhrul slams Bangladesh Cricket Board

Fakhrul calls for fresh BCB meeting and publication of the written decision taken

The Bangladesh Cricket Board is confusing the people speaking different in different times, BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.

The cricket board has not disclosed its decision that will be informed to the ICC, the BNP leader said in a statement on Tuesday evening.

The cricket boards of India, Australia and England are in favour of a structural overhaul to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the cricket governing body, for greater revenue and authority.

BCB told the public that Bangladesh will stand against the proposal. However, the board’s chief Nazmul Hassan Papon, an Awami League leader, said “he will keep an open mind.”

“If the proposal is passed, Bangladesh will have to keep content playing Zimbabew, Ireland, Afghanistan, Netherland and Kenya in intercontinental cup,” Mirza Fakhrul said.

The BNP leader demanded a re-meeting of the BCB and a decision taken in written format, including publication of the document.

He also called for reigning in support from other “neutral” countries against the proposal in partnership with alike-minded cricket-playing countries.
