Ten BNP leaders, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, sought bail in seven cases filed over the March 1 violence in the city.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zahurul Haq passed the order and fixed April 21 for hearing.
Sanaullah Miah, the defence counsel, submitted the petition seeking bail.
Three courts in Dhaka on Sunday sent the 10 senior BNP leaders to jail in the seven cases.
Of the cases, four were filed with Paltan Police Station, two with Ramna and one with Shajahanpur police stations. Two of the Paltan cases and the Shajahanpur one were filed under the Speedy Trial Act while the rest under the Explosive Substance Act.
Judge Shahriar Mahmud Adnan of the Speedy Trial Court sent the BNP leaders to jail in the three cases filed under the Speedy Trial Act upon their surrender before his court seeking bail.
The court also took cognisance of charges against the opposition leaders and activists in the three cases.
On March 27, police submitted charge sheets in the cases.
Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman ordered that the opposition leaders be sent to jail in two other cases filed with Paltan police under the Explosive Substance Act while Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor sent them to jail in the other two cases filed with Ramna police.
The BNP leaders also include Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Abdullah Al Noman, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Amanullah Aman, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Barkat Ullah Bulu and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie and Moazzem Hossain Alal.
Of them, Rizvi and Aman are already in jail.
The senior BNP leaders surrendered before the courts in compliance with a High Court order.
On March 10, the High Court granted ad interim anticipatory bails for four weeks to top eight senior BNP leaders in the cases, asking them to surrender before trial court before the expiry of the bail period.
As the ad interim bail period expired on Saturday, the BNP leaders surrendered before the courts on Sunday in compliance with the HC order.
