BCB chief: Mashrafe can play as long as he desires

In a press conference, BCB president Nazmul Hasan has washed away the speculations on Bangladesh cricket team’s skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s future regarding his capability to continue till the 2019 world cup.

In the press conference organized by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul Hasan said: “Mashrafe can play for as long as he wants”.

He remarked that nobody can replace Mashrafe and for someone of his stature, there is no alternative.

“The board doesn’t plan to remove him from captaincy. Nobody can substitute Mashrafe,” Hasan added.

In a recent interview with ESPNCricinfo, the Narail express talked about the questions he routinely faces about his form and fitness.

“After the first two matches of almost every series, the calls come to remove me. It is tough to play this way. I know that after two matches in a series, I will start hearing rumors about my departure. It is a challenge that I have taken on.

The captain commented on the constant speculation regarding his future and said “I am doing as much as I can but it becomes hard to play cricket in this atmosphere.”

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been the omnipresent figure of Bangladesh cricket’s revival.

Well wishers of the Bangladesh cricket team will hope that inspirational leader Mashrafe can play on till the 2019 World Cup.
