An over flowing crowd gathered at the Basundhara City Complex of the capital to have a glimpse to the ICC World Twenty20 trophy that arrived here from Dubai amid chaos on Thursday.
‘Nissan trophy tour of the world T20’ began on December 1 when it started its journey through arriving at Scotland and after a two-day stay in Bangladesh it will return to Dubai to start their final round of tour.
It will reach India, which will host the forthcoming mega event from March 9 till April 13, on February 1 to complete its journey.
However, the crowd had to pay for their desire of watching the trophy from a touching distance as it arrived three hours later than the scheduled 1:00 pm though it landed in Dhaka at 10:30 am through an Emirates flight.
BCB officials collected the trophy from the luggage after they had to make a two-hour search for it that prompted them to cancel their visit to BCB president Nazmul Hasan’s residence at noon.
It went to Nazmul’s Beximco office as there was no logo and backdrop available that required to be fixed and it only increased the sufferings of the hardcore cricket lovers.
‘I don’t know why it happened,’ Nazmul told reporters at Basundhara.  I am really disappointed to see such a chaotic situation,’ he grumbled.
ICC promotional officer Raymond Palmer, who looked exhausted during the event, will return along the trophy.
