Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Friday warned that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will be confined, and the water, electricity lines as well as the food supply for her will be cut off if she does not withdraw the ongoing blockade before the SSC examination scheduled to begin on February 2.
“We want to give an ultimatum to Khaleda. The SSC exam will be held from February 2. If Khaleda doesn’t withdraw the ongoing blockade before February 2 for the sake of 14 lakh students, she’ll be confined in such way that electricity, water supply will be cut off,” he said.
Shajahan Khan further said, “Transport owners and employees will gather there with all the torched and burned vehicles. They’ll confine you in such a way that you will not get the foods provided by your party men.”
The Shipping Minister gave the ultimatum while addressing a rally organised by Sramik-Karmachari-Peshajibi-Muktijoddha Samannay Parishad at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city.
Urging the BNP chief to stop killing people in the name of blockade, he said, “You will be burnt in the same fire, by which you’re burning people now.”
He urged all to start guarding their surrounding areas to resist blockaders and terrorists.
The minister also recommended people prepare a list of bomb chargers and submit it to law enforcers.
Shajahan Khan also announced various programmes to protest the violence, including a unique protest by honking the horns of all sorts of vehicles for two minutes, and whistle blowing at all business organisations across the country.
Members of Parliament Shirin Akhter, Pankaj Debnath and vice president of Muktijoddha Sangsad Ismat Kabir Gama were also present at the rally.
