Tikka Khan’s evil spirit descended on govt: BNP

Claiming that the number of forced disappearance and murder victims is increasing fast, BNP on Thursday alleged that the evil spirit of Pakistani autocrat Tikka Khan has descended on the current regime.

“Opposition leaders and activists are being killed and disappeared across the country regularly… Tikka Khan in 1971 had branded the freedom fighters as miscreants. Following his suit, the current regime is now calling BNP leaders and activists as terrorists,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Addressing a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office, he also said the government is preaching sermons of peace brandishing arms. ”Sheikh Hasina’s rule has already outshined all the previous fascist regimes.”

Rizvi said the list of those killed and disappeared is getting longer as the law enforcers are killing the opposition leaders and activists every day across the country.

“Police are chasing us with arms regularly. We’re informing you today about the missing of one leader while about another tomorrow. The government has turned the country into a death valley by killing 19-party members in the name of crossfire,” he regretted.

The bodies of those getting disappeared are being found in water-bodies, canals or on riverbanks, he said adding, “Where will we keep such huge bodies?”

The BNP leader alleged that their party men become traceless after the law enforcers are picking them up. ”It can’t continue in any democratic country. The Awami League carders in the guise of police are attacking our leaders and activists.”

He vowed that the 19-party will not allow anyone at any cost to annihilate the country’s independence and democracy.

Making a pointed reference, Rizvi alleged that a BNP leader in Sirajganj who remained missing after the law enforcers had taken him out a few days back was found dead on Thursday.

He also claimed that another leader, Jahangair, of the district who has been traceless since the law enforcers picked him up 15 days back.

Besides, another BNP leader, Omar Farroque, disappeared after law enforcers had picked him up, he added.
