Tigers seal first win in T20 World Cup 2016

Bangladesh win by 8 runs

Tamim’s passionate batting display has guided Tigers to seal the first victory against the Netherlands by 8-run in the qualifying round Group-A encounter of ICC T20 World Cup at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Tamim hit a fabulous unbeaten an unbeaten knock of 83 runs off 58 balls hitting six groundbreaking boundaries and three huge maximums.

Bangladesh scored 154 losing seven wickets in 20 overs.

Stephan Myburgh and Ben Cooper cracked handy knocks, and Mudassar Bukhari landed a few lusty blows in the slog overs. But with Taskin bowling a superb last over, they couldn’t cross the finish line.

The game made up of twists and turns, Bangladesh showed their experience to overcome a spirited challenge from Netherlands.

For long periods of the match, the Dutch were in the game. But, the old hands, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan, used their wisdom of experience to snare scalps at crucial junctures of the match. Al-Amin Hossain was also amongst the wickets.

Tamim Iqbal adjudged as the Man of the Match for the brilliant knock.

A sensible bowling efforts by Dutch side troubled Tigers as they lose wickets with very short intervals.

Van der Gugten bagged Mahmudullah (10) and Mushfiqur (0) in two consecutive deliveries.

Paul van Meekeren picked Nasir Hossain (3) and Soumya Sarkar (15)

The Netherlands have won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The Tigers left Dhaka for India on Monday morning to play the 6th edition of the tournament after completing the 13th Asia Cup mission as runners-up.

In the remaining two qualifying round matches at the same venue, Bangladesh will play against Ireland and Oman on March 11 and 13.

If Bangladesh become group champion, they will begin their super-10 match taking on Pakistan at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 16.
