murder

Four people, including the wife of a union parishad chairman, were killed by unidentified miscreants at the chairman’s Jhauchara house in Sonargaon upazila early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Shamima Akhter, 45, the second wife of Pirojpur union chairman and BNP leader Rafiqul Islam, Shamima’s younger brother Rana, 25, and two maidservants, Moni, 20, and Rekha, 22.
Rafiqul Islam, also the president of union BNP, was not at home during the gruesome incident as she is now in Singapore.
Finding the door of the house locked from inside for a long time, a guard at the house, Sattar, informed local police.
Police then rushed in, broke open the door of the house at about 10:30am and found the four slaughtered bodies lying on the floor.
Later, Sattar was detained for interrogation.
Police suspected that the murders might have taken place due to previous enmity.
