“It is a very hard task to curb corruption, but we’ve to accomplish this at any cost. We’ve no other alternative,” he said.
The President gave the directive when ACC chairman Ghulam Rahman and two other commissioners – Badiuzzaman and Sahabuddin – made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
The ACC chairman apprised the President of the steps taken by the ACC from January 2009 – April 2013 to curb corruption in the country.
He also informed that corruption have decreased in many sectors in the last four years, saying that significant progresses have been made to create mass awareness against corruption.
The ACC delegation lauded President Abdul Hamid’s role to prevent corruption and irregularities in Parliament with iron hand while he was the Speaker.
Terming the anti-corruption stand of Abdul Hamid as a unique example, they hoped that other organizations would follow him in their respective organizations.
During the meeting, the ACC delegation sought help of the President in different areas. The President assured them of his all-out assistance.
