BNP should participate in the upcoming election under partisan government, says Suranjit
Awami League senior leader Suranjit Sengupta has criticised Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad for spending a long vacation.
“His long vacation made it difficult for us to defend him. People think it is not right,” said Suranjit.
The Awami League leader also criticized acting Chief Election Commissioner Abdul Mobarak over his comment about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
He said: “This kind of behaviour coming from a person holding such a constitutional position is unexpected. People expect more sober behaviour from him. This kind of sharp criticism is not right.”
Suranjit made the remarks in a discussion forum arranged by Bangabandhu Academy at the capital’s Diploma Engineers’ Institute on Friday afternoon.
Regarding ACC’s law amendment, he said: “Those cases should be brought back to the penal court before the closing of parliament session on April 10.”
“I do not understand how the law ministry did it. I am drawing law minister’s attention in this regard,” he added.
Regarding the upazila poll, Suranjit said: “BNP should participate in the upcoming election under partisan government leaving their demand of caretaker government; as there was no interference in this upazila election.”
