The Student Movement Against Discrimination on early Thursday demanded resignation of the chief justice and other Appellate Division justices by the morning to eliminate fascism from the country’s judiciary system.
They said that they would launch tougher movement if their demand was not met.
Asif Mahmud, one of the coordinators of the platform, said this in a statement.
‘We demand removal of the chief justice and other Appellate Division judges immediately as they were involved with the fascist system,’ said Asif, urging the authorities concern to fulfill the vacant posts with patriotic people for formation of a student-peoples government.
The statement came hours after the Supreme Court was declared closed until further order.
A release was issued in this regard by the SC public relation officer Shafiqul Islam on Wednesday night.
The release said that the chief justice made the decision after consulting with the president.
