Home Minister Dr Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Wednesday said the government would take stern legal actions those responsible for the Saval building collapse that claimed over 100 lives so far.
“The building built violating rules. There’s no approval from the relevant authorities. We’ll investigate the matter and take actions against those responsible,” he told journalists after visiting the spot at Savar.
MK Alamgir said the government will do whatever necessary for the treatment, rehabilitation and compensation for the victims.
The Home Minister said steps would be taken so that nobody can show such negligence in the future putting people’s lives at stake.
He expressed deep shock at the loss of lives and conveyed sympathy to their families. “I’m, on behalf of the government, expressing deep shock…the government will take all necessary steps for the rehabilitation and compensation of the victims.”
The Home Minister said the rescue operation could have been made faster if the 18-party had not enforced hartat.
