She was on a visit to Sundrateki to meet with their families on Friday noon. They were promised legal assistance and Tk 50,000 each from the prime minister’s relief fund.

The bodies of the four children were found buried under heaps of soil on Wednesday morning, five days after they had gone missing. The children had gone to play in a field near their house.

Their families later alleged that the boys had been killed by their rivals over a dispute on cutting down trees.

“Something like this is unacceptable. The people who did this will be tried at a special tribunal,” the state minister said.

Police personnel who show negligence will be faced with departmental actions, she said.

The boys have been identified as Monir Mia, 7, Zakaria Ahmed Shubho, 8, Tajel Mia, 10, and Ismail Hossain, 10.

Monir, Shubho and Tajel were cousins who went to Sundrateki Primary School. Ismail, their neighbour, studied at Sundrateki Madrasa.

Two suspects were arrested on Wednesday evening and remanded for two days. Sylhet police had announced Tk 100,000 reward for anyone who handed over the killers.
