Director of Mind Aid Psychiatry and De-Addiction Hospital Dr Muhammad Niaz Morshed, an accused in the death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim, who was allegedly beaten to death by the hospital’s staff on November 9 last year, died last night.

He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital last night, inspector Bacchu Miah, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost said.

Doctors declared him dead when he was taken to the hospital from Keraniganj Jail last night, said the inspector.

Police said Niaz was in Keraniganj jail and was rushed to hospital when he felt ill.

Dr Niaz was arrested from National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital on November 10, 2020, in connection with the death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim.
