Robbers loot jewellery shop in Chuadanga

 

Robbers have looted gold ornaments from a jewellery shop just in front of Sadar Police Station in the district town.

 

The robbery came to light on Thursday morning when the employees of New Modern Jewellers opened the shop.

 

The incident just in front of the police station has sent the jewellery traders of the district town into a panic.

 

Shop owner Tareque Alam said they found things were lying scattered over the floor when they opened the shop on Thursday morning.

 

Later, it was found that around 90 tolas of gold ornaments were missing from the shop.

 

On information, police super Abdur Rahim Shah and officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mohammad Ibrahim went to the spot.

 

Police said the robbers entered the jewellery shop cutting open the back wall either on Tuesday night or Wednesday night.

 

Anyone of the shop employees might have been involved in the robbery, the SP said, adding that they have arrested an employee and two night guards of the market for interrogation.

 

The Sadar police OC said they have launched a drive to arrest the robbers.

 

District Jewellery Traders’ Association general secretary Sheikh Sadi expressed grave concern over the robbery.
