Saudi Arabia has prohibited marriage between its male citizens and Bangladeshi expatriate women, reports the Saudi Gazette.
According to the report, Saudi men have also been prohibited from marrying expatriate women from Pakistan, Chad and Myanmar.
Major General Assaf Al-Qurashi, the Makkah Police Director, said Saudi men wanting to marry foreign women should first obtain the consent of the government and submit marriage applications through the official channel.
The applicants should be over 25 and attach identification documents signed by the local district mayor as well as all other identity papers, including a copy of his family card.
Al-Qurashi said divorced men would not be allowed to apply within six months of their divorce.
According to unofficial statistics, there are about 500,000 women from those four countries currently residing in Saudi Arabia.
