Raushan pledges resolving problems thru’ discussion

Leader of the opposition in parliament Raushan Ershad on Wednesday pledged to give priority to resolve all the national problems through mutual discussions.

The opposition would play a different role in the 10th parliament introducing a new era,” she said while expressing her gratitude to the newly-elected Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.

She said, “In the past, we didn’t see both the opposition and ruling party to come into the same table on any important national issue…our role in the House will introduce a new concept.

Raushan Ershad, also a senior presidium member of Jatiya Party, said, “There would be no lack of sincerity from the opposition side and we’ll have to work jointly to give democracy an institutional shape.”

Expressing her displeasure over the nonexistence of BNP in parliament due to boycotting the election, Raushan said, “It’s very unfortunate. It could have been better had the election been held with the participation of all parties.”

She, however, said there was no alternative to election to maintain continuation of the Constitution.

The leader of the opposition said the country has so many problems and the biggest problem is political one. “We’ve to burry the politics of vendetta. We’ll have to work for the wellbeing of the country and its people.”

She expressed her gratitude to the founder of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Chief Whip ASM Feroz, senior treasury bench members Abdul Latif Siddiqui and Mohammad Nasim, Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon and JP’s Ruhul Amin Hawlader, among others, expressed their gratitude to Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
