shared different aspects of her professional and personal life and revealed that she is only interested to act in co-productions of India-Bangladesh
Raima Sen was on a sudden visit to Dhaka yesterday after five long years to attend a promotional event. The “Children of War” actor is selected for a new Legion Mehedi commercial. A large number of fans gathered at the venue to take pictures with the actor.
In conversation with the press, Raima shared different aspects of her professional and personal life and revealed that she is only interested to act in co-productions of India-Bangladesh, rather than Bangladeshi films only.
Recently, Raima is seen in the film “Children of War” – a Hindi film based on the Bangladeshi Liberation War – which is being showcased in several cinemas of the country. The film as a whole got mixed reception especially in Bangladesh, but Raima got positive reviews for her role in the movie. She feels that the role was one of the toughest she has faced so far.
“For 21 days, we shot extensively during the night and didn’t see daylight. My role was pretty tough. The film shows how rape was used as a weapon during the war. I feel proud that I acted in such a film that portrays the grief and devastation which is a part of the history and is nearly forgotten,” said the actor.
Though her hectic and short visit to Dhaka was limited to the promotional event, to soothe the disappointment of the gathered crowd, the starlet confirms that her next visit to Bangladesh not take so long. She will be back next year to shoot for a film titled “Sadarghat” centered on screen goddess Suchitra Sen. Directed by Indian filmmaker Sankarlal Bhattacharjee, the film will be more like a docu-fiction which will end on a romantic note. Bangladeshi actors Nirab, Tariq Anam Khan along with Raima’s mother Moon Moon Sen will also act in the film. Raima hopes that she will soon get to visit her grandmother’s birth place in Pabna for the first time.
Raima Sen reveals that her grandmother called her “Dollu” (derived from the word “doll”) affectionately, while she and her sister Riya called her “Amma” as they were accustomed to hearing Moon Moon address Suchitra the same way.
Suchitra knew how much the audience of Bangladesh adored her and Raima said that she can still feel the love emanate from the people of the country towards her grandmother.
After the event, Raima flew back to Kolkata in a rush.
