Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, will observe a seven-hour shutdown (hartal) in Pabna district on Sunday protesting killing of one of its leaders in Dhaka.
Khalilur Rahman, 22, president of ward No. 88 of Shibir Dhaka city unit, was killed when police chased a pro-hartal procession in the capital’s Jatrabari area during the final day of Jamaat-enforced 48-hour shutdown on Wednesday.
Mizanur Rahman, central publicity secretary of Shibir, made the hartal announcement on Thursday, reported our Pabna correspondent.
“The hartal will continue from 6:00am to 1:00pm,” the Shibir leader said while a group of leaders paid a visit to the home of Khalilur at Kormoza Mallikpara in Santhia upazila of Pabna.
The body of Khalilur reached his village home early Thursday.
The leaders and activists of Pabna Shibir unit would also bring out processions on Sunday protesting the killing, Ishaq Ali, president of Shibir district unit told The Daily Star.
