The officer-in-charge (OC) of Gazipur’s Tongi Police Station has blamed his colleagues of pocketing a part of seized yaba tablets.
According to Tongi Police’s sub-inspector (SI) Aminur Rahman, a raid was conducted around 7.30 pm on Tuesday following a tip-off at a slum in Natun Bazar area when two ‘yaba-peddlers’ were nabbed.
The case filed over the seizures by SI Deb stated that 1,000 yaba tablets were recovered in the raid.
OC Kazi Ismail Hossain alleges the seizure report plays down the amount of yaba tablets recovered in the raid.
“Seems those who recovered it, made off with a portion of seized material. I think they have removed 100 yaba tablets because I know that 1,100 yaba tablets were recovered,” OC Hossain told reporters.
He said that the issue would be investigated.
SI Deb, who filed the case, was unavailable to comment on the matter.
The two peddlers arrested — Shah Alam (26) of Dhaka’s Uttarkhan and Khokan Mia (38) of Mymensingh — are yet to be interrogated.
