The ruling government has taken a policy of zero tolerance for terrorism and militancy with a vow to do everything needed to fight the problems, says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

“Bangladesh will do everything necessary to fight the twin demons (terrorism and militancy). We have adopted a zero tolerance policy in this regards,” she told the parliament on Wednesday in reply to a supplementary question.

The premier said she informed the Saudi King, other Muslim countries and the OIC about the country’s firm position against militancy stating that Bangladesh would do whatever is needed to curb terrorism and militancy.

“I told the King that Bangladesh will send its troops, if necessary, to protect the two holy Mosques.

“40 Muslim countries are taking part in the Saudi-led Islamic alliance against militancy and terrorism and it created opportunity for the entire Muslim Ummah to work jointly,” the PM also said.

About her recent trip to the KSA, Hasina said: “The visit will lend dynamism to Bangladesh’s relations with the Muslim world in line with building the bilateral ties with Saudi Arabia.”

She hoped of increasing the country’s importance to the Muslim world with the new relation move.
