PM: More facilities for doctors in remote areas

Her government has put emphasis on ensuring medicare facilities for women, children, says PM

The government would increase the facilities for the doctors posted in remote areas.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said this while presiding over a meeting of the National Health Council at her office here on Tuesday morning.

After the meeting, PM’s Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil briefed the journalist, reports BSS.

She also called upon the private sector to work for further development of the health and health education sector side by side with the government.

“Not only for business, you will also have to work with an attitude of providing services to the people,” Sheikh Hasina said.

She also mentioned that the private sector has a positive role in the country’s stunning success in the health sector.

Stressing the need for raising the quality of education in medical colleges and universities, Sheikh Hasina said two more medical universities will be established in Chittagong and Rajshahi.

The prime minister said her government has taken steps to make the Ayurvedic, unani and homeopathic education time- befitting.

“The government has given importance to the education for nurses and health technicians and decided to increase the number of nurses and health technicians in the country side by side with the doctors,” she said.

She said her government has also put emphasis on ensuring medicare facilities for women and children.

Spelling out the five-year success of her previous government in the health sector, Sheikh Hasina said healthcare services have reached to the doorsteps of the people through different pragmatic steps.

Earlier, a power point presentation on overall development of the health and health education sector was made.
