The premier made the statement while addressing a press briefing at her official residence Ganabhaban at 4pm.

Regarding relations with India after BJP leader Narendra Modi became prime minister, she said: “AL has  the experience of working with several Indian prime ministers of different parties.”

“All the major issues have been resolved in the time when AL was in power, including boundary and water distribution issues. No other government did that, and we will of course work with the new prime minister and uphold a friendly relationship with the country.”

Sheikh Hasina answered to the journalists’ queries at the press conference on her recent visit to Japan.

She talked on about the legitimacy of her government; how India-Bangladesh relation would be after Modi became prime minister, the disbanding of RAB, the Jammat trial issue.

About the legitimacy of the January 5 poll, she said the parties which are born undemocratically are raising the question of the election’s legitimacy.

In Bangladesh, no party could hand over power democratically, which AL could, she said.

The parties which are now raising questions about the legitimacy of the election have killed 55 drivers among others in the name of a so called movement for election under the non partisan government; but they didn’t get people to side with them.

You have seen how an anarchic situation was created by the parties during poll time.

While answering another question regarding the mid-term election, she said: “We can arrange the election, but who will take responsibility for the possible chaos and instability.” “Do you want that?”

Regarding RAB, she said, when RAB was established, the then government didn’t consider my opinion.

She also said RAB has now done so much work that has had a positive impact.

Regarding the Narayanganj incident, she said the officers against whom the allegation was set have been sent to retirement and detained as per the court’s order.

Whenever any allegation is coming against any of them, we are taking action as per the law, but RAB has now been become an institution.

Answering to another question as to how she is enjoying her third term, she wondered how it could be something enjoyable; rather it is a “hard task” to carry out, which she is trying to perform her best.
