The owner of Pinak-6 that capsized in Munshiganj with over 200 passengers on board on August 4, has been arrested in Chittagong early Wednesday.
Mifta Uddin, Commanding officer of RAB-7 said: “A joint team of RAB-7 and 11 arrested Abu Bakar Siddique, 60, from a house in Agrabad Housing area of Chittagong city around 3:30am.”
Abu bakar went into hiding after the launch capsised near Mawa ghat.
“He has been shifted to the RAB headquarters in Dhaka. After holding a press conferrence there, he will be sent to Munshiganj,” he added.
Bodies of 45 passengers of capsized launch were recovered from different rivers while 62 are still missing.
