Members of Airport Armed Police (AAP) arrested a Bangladeshi passenger from Bahrain and recovered gold weighing 540 tolas from his possession at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday evening.
Tipped off, AAP members closely followed Delwar Hossain, 43, at the customs lounge of the airport as he arrived from Bahrain around 7:30 pm by an Emirates flight, said senior ASP of AAP Ehtesham.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, Delwar was trying to flee the airport through the green channel. While running away, the AAP members detained him.
He said 54 gold biscuits, each containing 10 tolas, were recovered searching his body.
